Business Plan Overview

To successfully complete the Individual Project Plan assignment later in this course, you will need to understand what a project plan is, how it functions, how to structure a project to achieve maximum efficiency and success.. Considering those goals, this assignment will allow you to interact with explanatory media and software-specific tutorials to gain foundational information about the working and structure of a project and to develop rudimentary skill in using project management software.

Use the media tool “Business Planning,” provided in the Student Success Center via the study materials, to complete the assignment.

Select the “Business Plan Videos” button to view the “Introduction Video” and the Business Plan Video: “Elements Video.”

Read the section titled “Business Plan Overview” and then complete the “Business Plan Element Self-Assessment.”

Once you have completed the self-assessment,” select “Microsoft Project or Merlin” and click the appropriate link to learn more about Microsoft Project if you are operating on a PC or Merlin if you are operating on a Mac. You will need to develop basic proficiency in these applications to successfully complete the Individual Project Plan in Topic 7.

Upon completion of your navigation through the components of the “Business Planning” page, write a brief 250-word response in which you summarize the Business Plan Overview. Include in your response an explanation of how the Microsoft Project or Merlin tutorials might help you to be successful creating your Individual Project Plan later in this course.

APA style is not required, but solid academic writing is expected.

The purpose of this assignment is for students to familiarize themselves with similarities among commonly used business plan models. Students will describe how to use systems-based theoretical applications in the management of health care systems and services.

Research a minimum of three business plan models. (Please note, you cannot choose those provided in Microsoft Project or Apple Merlin.)

In a paper of 1250-1,500-words:

Compare the three business plan models.

Describe the strengths and limitations of these models.

As a culminating project, this assignment has two parts: a project plan created in either MS Project (PC) or Apple Merlin (MAC) due in Topic 7 and an executive summary due in Topic 8. Those experiencing problems with Project software may complete this portion of the assignment in Excel. Use prior course information and data gathered for your CLC Business Plan to complete this assignment.

Examine the business plan you created with your CLC group and determine the distinct goals, timelines, and resources necessary to put the plan into effect. The steps required for the implementation of the business plan are referred to as a project plan.

Write a project plan in Microsoft Project or Apple Merlin. Excel may be substituted as needed. In your project plan:

Identify the tasks needed to complete the project.

Develop a completion schedule.

Assign resources to project tasks. Be creative. For example: If your plan calls for three nurses, you will need to plan for hiring and training. Create realistic timelines for each activity. They could be very general (2 weeks to hire, 2 weeks to train) or they could dive much deeper (1 week to write hiring ad, 1 week to place the ad, 2 weeks to accept applications, 1 week to review, 3 weeks for interviews, 1 week for offer letters, 2 weeks to establish in the HR system, etc.).

Complete these steps for each major component of the business plan. Your project plan should be specific, detailed, and thorough.
